              INT: BEDROOM-MIDNIGHT

A young women in her 20's sits at her desk, the nights glare

screeches through the window, very tired, as she writes a

seemingly long letter.  By her appearance her eyes are weary,

her hair messed up, it seems that she hasn't been to sleep in

a while.  The room is lit, only by a small desk lamp and a

flame from a few candles.  The room is apparently messy and

bottles of pills line the desktop.

                                  MELISSA (V.O.)

Sleep.  A state of partial or full

                        unconsciousness in people and

                        animals during which voluntary

                        functions are suspended and the

                        body rests and restores itself,

its hard to imagine how something

                        so little, could be often

                        over-looked.

                                                       CUT TO:

(Please note all the "CUT TO" Scenes will be featured in a

obscure color or video type. or the * sign will let you know

              its a flashback sequence.)

*We See MELISSA Sleeping in her bed, quietly, she seems so at

peace.  An Arm is draped around her.  Her body warmly snuggled

to the blanket, the peaceful look that relaxes throughout her

body.  She rustles a bit, but still at complete ease.

                                  MELISSA (V.O.)

How I could remember those days,

                        like they were yesterday.  Going

to bed after a long day's work,

                        being able to lie there

                        peacefully, taking all the hard

days wear and tear, and putting it

away as I closed the day... in the

most peaceful state one could  be

                        in...

                                                       CUT OUT:

              INT: BEDROOM-MIDNIGHT

MELISSA continues writing her letter, taking a sip of the

coffee on the table, then proceeding back to the letter. We

feature a shot on her wedding ring.

                                  MELISSA (V.O.)

                        It's hard to imagine, but I haven't

been asleep in 4 days, but somehow

                        i just don't feel like i should

sleep, why should i rest? what do

I really have to rest for?

The pencil suddenly breaks at the tip.

                                  MELISSA

                               (exhausted)

                        Damn...

She lets out a sigh, and walks over to the sharpener.  (WE

PAN OVER AND SEE THE LETTER VAGUELY, AS IT APPEARS TO BE ONE

OF GREAT LENGTH, BUT WITHOUT KNOWING ANY OF THE WORDS BEING

              WRITTEN)

MELISSA walks back to her chair at the desk... first gazing

at the time on the clock which reads (2:01AM).

                                  MELISSA

                               (continuing;

                                sarcastic and

                                incoherent)

Only 2 am?  well 5 more hours till

                        the sun gets up... There's

                        something to look forward too...

Seemingly very depressed, and saddened for some unknown

reason, she sits back down at her desk and continues to write

away aimlessly.  A soft yawn escapes her face.

                                  MELISSA (V.O.)

So I haven't slept in 2 weeks, who

                        ever said humans need to

                        sleep,

                               (slight pause and

                                chuckle)

they have the gall to call it a

                        problem...  sure the doctors gave

me some pills for my condition,

they called it INSOMNIA, a word

                        coined from the Latin term

                        insomnis, meaning "sleepless"...

The inability to fall asleep, or

to remain asleep long enough to

                        feel rested...

(SERIES OF QUICK CUT BACKS TO THE FLOOR, WHERE TONS OF BOOKS

LIE, WE CUT ONE TO ANOTHER REALLY QUICK)

                                  MELISSA (V.O.)

                               (continuing)

As you can see, i've learned a lot

                        during this time, actually learned

to read for the first time

                               (slight sarcastic

                                laugh)

She drinks a sip from the coffee, still showing signs of

tiredness, she puts the cup down and spills a little bit of

              it on her clothes.

                                                       CUT TO:

INT: BEDROOM-NIGHT (*Please note this is a flashback

              moment*)

MELISSA sits at her desk(*fully lit house*)in a prior moment

in her life, writing, she has just spilled Coffee on herself

              as she is writing.

                                  MELISSA

Oh Melissa, what a klutz you are...

                               (She laughs and

                                shakes her head)

As she wipes herself clean, The power along with the lights

suddenly turn out, we hear some rattling outside in an eerie

moment.  A look of concern rustles through her face. She

sternly stands up and walks to the window.

                                  MELISSA

                               (continuing)

                        Umm, Hello?

She looks out the window. She see's nothing and closes the

blinds.  She goes back to her desk, lighting a candle to

              provide light for her writing.

                                                       CUT OUT:

              INT: BEDROOM-MIDNIGHT

She sits back at her desk, staring at the wall, the pencil

firmly pressed against her temple, in a deep hypnotic gaze.

                                  MELISSA (V.O.)

How the slightest noise, can bring

                        back the most horrific memories...

memories of which I tried to

                        forget... memories that still loom

in my mind, till this day, from

                        which I cannot escape...

Saddened MELISSA looks back to her notepad, gazing at the

words that are at her fingertips.  She slowly runs her

              fingers across the writing.

                                  MELISSA (V.O.)

                               (continuing)

Was it ever meant to be?

                               (slight pause)

Could it have been fate?  A force

                        or Principle believed to

                        predetermined events?  Could all

                        the events that transpired that

night, made it so, that only one

                        outcome could have occurred.

                                                       CUT TO:

INT: BEDROOM-NIGHT (*PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A FLASHBACK*)

MELISSA sits at her desk, staring at the wall, it is still

dark, with the power in the house still presently off.

                                  MELISSA

                               (to herself)

                        What time is it?

She looks at the clock it reads 2:32AM

                                  MELISSA

                               (continuing;

                                concerned)

God, I hate being home alone, i

wish my hunny was here, I hate it

                        when he's out of town...

              She lets out a sigh.

WE FLASH TO A SERIES OF SHOTS OF BOTTLES OF PILLS, MAINLY

              SLEEP AID PILLS.

                                                       CUT OUT:

              INT: BEDROOM-MIDNIGHT

WE FLASH TO A SERIES OF SHOTS OF BOTTLES OF PILLS.  THIS TIME

MORE THAN IT WAS INT HE PREVIOUS FLASHBACK SCENE.

MELISSA sighs and goes back to her writing, she is growing

              more and more tired.

                                  MELISSA (V.O.)

They call it a state of

                        dependence, a need for something

or somebody to be available in

order for one to exist or

                        survive...

She drops the pencil and slowly moves her hand across her

face, somehow feeling what she is touching is no longer the

face she use to know... (* A Strong feeling as though you

aren't who you thought you were*)

                                                       CUT TO:

INT: BEDROOM-NIGHT (*PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A FLASHBACK*)

MELISSA moves her fingers across her face, when she is

startled by noises of a DOOR OPENING.

She jumps up from her seat.  A look of grave freight glooms

over her innocent face.  We HEAR THE DOOR BEING KICKED OPEN.

INT: HALLWAY (*PLEASE NOTE THIS IS STILL A FLASHBACK*)

We see footsteps walking strongly across the floor, each

              thump gets louder and louder.

INT: BEDROOM-NIGHT (*PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A FLASHBACK*)

MELISSA sits back down on her chair, a look of dumbfounded is

              easily read across her face.

INT: HALLWAY (*PLEASE NOTE THIS IS STILL A FLASHBACK*)

The footsteps continue to grow and the thumps louder.

INT: BEDROOM-NIGHT (*PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A FLASHBACK*)

Her Heart beats harder with each foot thump she hears, they

              almost coincide with one another.

Her face is almost expressionless, her intentions unknown.

The door starts to rattle slowly, the intent is out of fear.

                                                       CUT OUT:

              INT: BEDROOM-NIGHT

MELISSA's face sinks deeper into a scared state, she gulps,

and shuts her eyes. She opens the drawers of her desk, it

reveals a gun, her hand reluctantly reaches for it.

                                  MELISSA (V.O.)

In my hands I was holding

                        something capable of bringing

                        about DEATH... The destruction or

                        extinction of something...

                                                       CUT TO:

INT: BEDROOM-NIGHT (*PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A FLASHBACK*)

MELISSA's hand holds the gun up, she is scared.

                                  MELISSA (V.O.)

But i had weird premonition on

what was going on, a strong

                        feeling, without a rational

                        basis...

The sounds of the footsteps and doorknob, rattling are

forever still present from the time they started, they have

not lessened, much to her surprise, they only grew...

                                                       CUT OUT:

              INT: BEDROOM-NIGHT

MELISSA holds the gun in close to her face, she looks deeply

at the gun. Memorized by it...

                                                       CUT TO:

INT: BEDROOM-NIGHT (*PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A FLASHBACK*)

She looks at the Gun, scared.

The Door continues to Rattle, as everything seems like it's in

              Super Slow Motion.

The door finally opens, a shadowy figure appears, and slowly

walks from behind her and without any hesitation MELISSA

              turns and fires the gun.

                                  MELISSA

                        Nooooooooo!!!!

The body slumps forward onto the cold floor.  Blood dripping

              from his chest..

MELISSA rushes to the floor, picks up the body onto her lap.

She spots a picture frame, dropped on the floor by the person.

              Blood tickles on her fingertips.

                                                       CUT OUT:

              INT: BEDROOM-NIGHT

She is slumped to the floor (*in the same position as the

flashback*) MELISSA shudders in pure horror.  Her face is

breathless, her mouth hangs open in shock.  *Close-Up* Her

finger tips run through her face, dragging it blood.

MELISSA looks down, seeing in shock her chest oozing with

              blood.

She slowly falls to the floor, looking from a distant she

spots a picture of her and her husband.

Her hand reaches to the picture on the floor (which shows her

and her husband in a loving moment).  Dragging Blood onto it.

                                                       CUT TO:

INT: BEDROOM-NIGHT (*PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A FLASHBACK*)

MELISSA lies slumped over, as she sea's she has just killed

her husband.. She falls on top of him, a tear rolls down her

cheek.. as she slowly, softly cries.

                                                       CUT OUT:

              INT: BEDROOM-NIGHT

A small cry, melts itself from her lifeless body, she lies

facedown on the cold floor, blood rapidly flowing from her

body, her eyes open, her body motionless.

                                  MELISSA (V.O.)

                               (Very soft spoken and

                                exhausted in state,

                                with a calm

                                atmosphere)

I guess in a state of calm and

serenity, I can finally be at

                        peace...

Her eyes finally shut.  The gun is off on the ground, the

picture within her reaching grasps, the blood flowing

              majestically from her body.

                                                       FADE OUT:

                                                       FADE IN:

              AS THE CREDITS ROLL:

We see the picture frame within her hand. blood trickles the

edges of the picture.  The picture suddenly starts to animate

and with it, shows the point in time of the picture and the

love they both had once held.
