Melissa, a married woman in her mid 20’s, is awake in the late hours of the night.  She is home alone, writing a letter.  She seems to be very disturbed, by her appearance and facial expressions, she has not slept in perhaps days.  In her mind she voices over, and explains, how she has not slept in days, how sleep to her doesn’t even matter anymore.  She is very depressed, as going without sleep can do that to you.  We go to a flashback, a time when she was able to sleep, peacefully in her bed with her husband.  She recalls how peaceful she was then.  We cut back to present day; she continues to write away on her notepad, seemingly stoic.  She acknowledges she is going through some problems, when all of a sudden a simple spill of coffee on herself, sparks a string of flashbacks.  During this flashback she recalls how she did the same thing, that being spilling coffee on her self, one late sleepless night.  During that time, she recalls that she heard some noises that freaked her out during that time.  As we drift back to present day, she questions herself, on whether or not, she could have avoided the outcome of the past events that she has endured and to which still haunts her today.   Sequences in her mind start to parallel, past events.  Her mind drifts to a past moment, as she remembers hearing a noise at her door that late night.  Then footsteps invade her home.  Cutting back to present day, she is pulling out a gun from her desk.  She is reliving the moment that has haunted her.  She recalls how as the door opened to her bedroom, she shot without a hesitation.  In what changed her life forever.
